Water Purification
Reverse osmosis is effective at removing all kinds of impurities. It’s drawbacks are that it is water and energy intensive and it creates mineral-less and acidic water requiring supplementation with trace minerals to prevent deficiencies, alkalize, and increase hydration for health.*
Distilled water uses energy but does not waste water. However it does not purify all contaminants. Also, it is mineral deficient as well and rather ‘dead’. In some areas you’ll likely be fine with some less intensive purification like ceramic, carbon filters, and possibly even UV (ultra violet) combination.**
Notes:
* Re: alkalization and mineralization of RO water- If you use drops for this, be sure not to get mineral drops high in magnesium or you could end up with a laxative effect. Some people use certain types of rocks to soak their RO water in. Kangen offers an interesting product as it is a water alkalizer. It does not purify however and you might want to compare it to more cheaply alkalized water using re-mineralization drops (just be sure not to use ones with too much magnesium as they are laxative).
**Re: filters and UV options - Ask public health in your area what you should be testing for. Each area has different concerns. Match your system(s) with the specific concerns/contaminants. Check that whatever system or filters you are considering will clear any known contaminants in your well and in your area. Ask the manufacturer of each of your filters what their systems clear, and to what degree. Also, you may find some water purification specialists in the yellow pages too- people who sell multiple kinds of systems would be good information resources, even more so if they do water testing as part of their service to help with questions like yours.
Water module will come later in the course. Questions like this will in future be directed to the live chat sessions.
I'll give you what info I can for now.
RO and distilled are good for mixing with the Whole Approach candida cleanse/purge drink (not essential) but not healthy as your main source of water. Your efforts are better. I'm not sure if you want a Britta type if you have well water nor can I say for sure that your multi process approach is the most direct and effective. I would do the following:
Check that your UV treatment or your other filters are likely to clear any known contaminants in your well and in your area.
Ask the manufacturer of each of your filters what their systems clear
Ask public health in your area what you should be testing for. Each area has different concerns.
Match your system(s) with the specific concerns/contaminants.
You may find some water purification specialists in the yellow pages too- people who sell multiple kinds of systems would be good information resources, even more so if they do water testing as part of their service to help with questions like yours.
Also, you can do a search on the forum to find out more about my previous water recommendations. I think we have a post under Diet FAQ's as well.
Take care,
Tarilee
Hi Tarilee,
Just wondering if in Module #1 will you are intending on including any information on types/kinds of water? Reason I'm asking is I'm at a point where I'm starting to research different types of water i.e.: well vs tap vs bottled vs reverse osmosis vs filtration systems. I guess I have a question if you don't mind? At the moment, I'm using well water that is filtered through a UV light filter before the tap, then I'm running it through a Mavea Water Filter Pitcher (like a Britta) then finally through a Santevia Alkaline Water Filter Pitcher which increases the PH value to about a 8.5 or so. Would this be an acceptable method in your opinion to ensure my drinking water is cleaner and more alkaline provided I still get my well water tested on a regular basis?
Thanks again,
Kevin
I'm excited too! We hope this curriculum will help people learn the path a little at a time. It will be accessible and organized and will require no hunting or searching from participants.
With love,
TLC
Very excited for this! Thank you for all your time, knowledge and care!
This is a great idea! Thanks Tarilee
