About Candida Related Complex

Candida Related Complex is a condition involving severe and lasting intestinal yeast overgrowth. A long term candida infection may result in the yeast professing to its more serious and hard to erradicate fungal form.

Fungal candida grows root-like dendrites to attach to intestinal walls and leach nutrients both from the diet and the tissues. Long standing fungal forms of candida also increase the chance of complication in the form of Leaky Gut Syndrome as the fungal dendrites can perforate the intestinal walls resulting in materials from the intestines entering the blood stream. This can contribute to food intolerances.

Fungal candida may also cause symptoms in multiple sites in the body. This is not necessarily because there is actual fungus growing outside the colon (though there is medical debate about this possibility among the professionals who acknowledge the breadth of yeast related health issues). More likely, or at least a more excepted view, is that the multitude of conditions related to yeast overgrowth, are caused by the colon toxicity as a result of the mycotoxins released by yeast and fungus, which then cause broad symptoms.

The more established the yeast/fungus is, the more its toxins can weaken the host. This phenomenon is particularly severe if one’s elimination is slowed as in the case of constipation due to an imbalance in intestinal flora or if one is already immune suppressed.

Long term overgrowth of candida often leads to conditions such as hormone imbalances, organ stress/organ congestion, inflammatory intestinal conditions or intestinal permeability and food, seasonal and environmental allergies. Recovery time from this condition can vary widely even when patients use similar diet and protocol strategies. This may be because of differences in dietary needs between different patients and the challenges of accurately determining these.

Another reason that people have different experiences of candida overgrowth may also be related to differences in overall, health constitutions resulting in some people being more susceptible to the imbalance itself and to the mycotoxins related to it.

Susceptible organs, or joints can show symptoms of congestion or imbalance because the body’s healing resources are distracted by the extra work and cleansing responsibilities that toxicity presents. The delicate hormonal and chemical balance that affects our emotions can also be interfered with causing symptoms of mental illness. A severe candida infestation can be associated with severe debilitating physical and emotional symptoms and can take from several months to a couple of years to resolve permanently.

In severe cases or when multiple complications accompany the overgrowth, the supervision and support of a qualified holistic or naturopathic physician is advised.

The treatment of severe candida requires a challenging and comprehensive protocol. Essential elements of a successful program include a methodical commitment, and a customized approach to a healing diet, anti-fungal therapy, allergy management, detoxification and immune support. Because of the importance of a calm state of mind for optimized healing power, relaxation therapy, contemplation practice, counselling, faith, and the practice of self-compassion can also dramatically affect outcomes.
