Can Candida Albicans Be Mistaken For Alzheimers?

I have had Candida for over 25 years. For 20 years Ive been on disability. Finnally a year and a half ago I was able to stay on the candida diet but brain symptoms havent gotten better. I have only done antifungals for about 3 months with no noticeable improvement. Im gonna keep going as I read in the literature it can take up to 3 years of protocol to get better for those who have had this illness for more than 25 years, but Im very scared. My therapist has told me to see a neurologist to rule out alzheimers but Im scared Ill be wrongly diagnosed with that. I read online that there is the exact type of plaque in the brain for candida as alzheimers. Does anyone have answers for me. I feel like Im going crazy and everyday cognitive functions are a struggle. Please help someone.

Yes, it's very scary when our brain is not functioning well.

Cognitive functions are worsened by acetaldehyde, a toxin released by candida. Someone can be perfectly healthy otherwise but have severe brain fog from candida. I think Alzheimers is diagnosed through more than just a symptom assessment.

There are many causes for fogginess and memory issues- environmental (air quality pollutants and electrosmog), nutritional, toxins in the body (like heavy metals) and emotional.

Candida treatment, low carb diet and supports such as concentrated curcumin extract and lions mane mushroom extract can support the brain.

Do you have a Naturopathic Doctor to help you?

Warm Regards,

Tarilee,

Thank you so much for responding to my post.  I appreciate the information that you gave me.  i don't have a naturopathic doctor and can't afford one at this time.  I have purchased products from whole approach.  I did stage one with no real notice of change about a year ago.  Discouraged it's taken me this long to try again, this time with more die-off.  I have to keep telling myself I've been sick a long time so it's gonna take awhile.  Lately I'm very concerned that maybe it will turn into alzheimers because I read that it's the exact same plague in the brain for both illnesses.  Have you heard this and can it turn into alzheimers?  This is why I won't go to get tested for alzheimers because I want to continue on the candida plan you have put forth on your website.  The reason I think it is candida is I was diagnosed about 25 years ago by a doctor but never treated it. I took antibiotics for acne as a teen for several years and by the time I was 16 I had food allergies and I remember I started my brain fog.  Right now it's so severe my cognitive impairment is so bad it's hard to carry a conversation with people or remember names, etc.  It's hard to read and learn and retain anything.  This has taken my life.  I am determined to take it back even if it takes several years.  I want my brain back.  I'm reaching out to you because I have had no luck with my doctors and I can't afford one not on my insurance such as a naturopathic doctor.  My question is, do you know of other candida sufferers who have this severe problem.  I have read the posts on the website and I don't see any this severe as far as brain symptoms but other such as leaky gut and other things.  I apologize for such a long post and I will try the things you have said help, but I really am scared and don't know who else to ask.  I have a therapist but she doesn't know about candida.  Also, if you know of someone who has had this severe brain symptoms, how long did it take to get better, if they did get better.

Thank you.

Hannah

Tarilee,

After I posted the above post I found some information online that says, yes, candida can cause alzheimers on the website [any url's need to be sent to administrator for approval- see contact link above].  At least this is the author's opinion.  Anyways, first I've found of any link and the author says to follow candida protocol along with essential oils, metal detox, essential amino acids, vitamins and minerals, vit c.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks,

Hannah

Hi Hannah,

She's talking about controversial subjects even for the candida support world. I have no idea where she's drawing her conclusions from. I didn't any references to studies or I would look it up. Sorry I can't comment on it one way or the other. Only someone who has access to the direct research referred to if there is any, will be able to comment. She made a few claims about candida that I've not ever heard before.

She's selling essential oils I guess. Couldn't garner much more about her from my quick look.

Take care,

Tarilee

Tariliee,

It has been over a year since I asked this question and I cannot find the original link that I sent you where someone wrote about essential oils helping candida.  It is very important that I find that article.  I know you can't post it to general public, but is there any way you can find that and send it to me privately on my email.  Thank you.
