Amalgam filling removal visit 1

Hi

I just got home tonight having had 3 of my 7 amalgam fillings removed. The dentist I chose came highly recommended and I had spoken to him twice on the phone before today's consultation.

He firstly took xrays to assess the size of each filling and then did a mercury vapour test, which actually showed a low to average reading. He then measured the electrical charge being emitted by each filling and this showed one filling as emitting a charge higher he said than he had seen in quite a number of weeks. Based on this he decided to replace this filling and the 2 beside it on the bottom also. He put a mask over my eyes and nose which I could breathe through and stressed that I don't breathe through my mouth during the drilling. He also clamped a suction device around each tooth being drilled. I was surprised but the drilling didn't take that long. I now have 3 nice White fillings and I cannot wait to get rid of the rest of the horrible metal.

The dentist told me to see how I feel oner the next few days but warned I may experience sensitivity for a few weeks as the nerve endings previously in contact with mercury "re-awaken". Assuming (and hoping) I don't have any toxicity from the removal the plan is to have 3 more done next time (1 is root canalled but he isn't overly concerned with this) and the remaining 1 on my final visit. All going well I hope to have no metal in my mouthby the end of the month.

As for supplements I am taking chlorella, vitamin c and garlic along with my usual others.

Feeling good for having taken this big (hopefully positive and complicaton free!) step. Hopefully also this is one of the last further major missing pieces towards renewed health and energy for me and anybody else out there going through this.

My dentist gave me 2 DVDs to watch on this issue and it really is shocking and scary the practice of mercury dentistry carries on today in the presence of such good alternatives.

Wow! Sounds like this really went well for you. That's good to hear. I haven't had mine out yet, but as soon as the economy picks up and my husband can start building I'd like my fillings out, also.

If you can believe this, when I was a kid my stepdad, who is an OR nurse, brought home a vile of mercury for us to play with. We had a lot of fun with it until we spilled it in our home a few times and didn't have any left to play with. Being kids, I'm sure we didn't wash our hands before eating, etc. Plus we would find the little mercury balls around our house for years. Definitely explains a lot of our families health issues.

Best wishes on a speedy recovery! banana
Congrats Paul! This is a huge step, and I'm glad you're doing this with an experience dentist.

I got my amalgams removed 4 years ago, and still think it's one of the best things I've ever done.

Let us know if you have any issues or questions...I'd be happy to try to help!

Tinker, your mercury ball story is insane!
Thanks for posting your experience Paul! I saw a dentist a short while ago about having my amalgams removed and he was great. He explained the process to me and made me feel very comfortable, but then I came home and stalled in scheduling the actual appointment to have the procedure done. I guess just out of fear more than anything. You've inspired me to "bite the bullet" and get it done!
Thanks for the responses guys. I'll be sure to keep you updated. The next 3 im having removed are all on the top right of my mouth beside each other. My dentist told me as an experiment to not brush the surface of these fillings for the next week or two until they come out. This way the amount of vapour produced is much reduced and he believes I should feel an improvement quite soon which I feel positive about.

He told me that by next summer when I look in the mirror I will know the difference this had made because the black circles under my eyes will be gone. He said he had his own amalgams removed 20 years ago and he only realised afterwards he had been depressed for most of his life up to that.

Apparently also I am a mouth breather and when u breathe through your mouth after brushing your teeth at bedtime the amount of mercury vapour inhaled is hugely increased and it is not "filtered" through the nose. Possibly why I wake up feeling so tired.

Time will tell I suppose.

3 more amalgams removed today - wuhoo!

Apart from the mercury vapour I have been inhaling my dentist highlighted the fact that one of my fillings was emitting an electrical charge of a quarter of a volt...this level of elctricity resonating in somebody's head 24/7 is not good at all and can cause it's own problems. Had a root canalled tooth amalgam also replaced today (seperate post on this). Only 1 left to remove next week and then I am metal free. When I left the dental surgery today my dentist told me that I will go to bed tonight inhaling less mercury vapour than I have been for my entire adult life. There is something good about hearing that :-)

Hi there

I have been meaning to put an update here but my laptop has been broken the past while. I have had all my amalgams removed now for about 10/12 weeks. I will put a full update here soon but overall all is well. There are a number of dentists in Ireland that can do it for you safely but not mAny. I live in Dublin and even though there are 1 or 2 dentists here that follow safe protocols I chose a dentist in Kilkenny city by the name of bill mc collam. I would recommend him highly. I would be happy to discuss with you and share my experience over the phone if you like. Let me know and we can arrange something. Alternatively if u want to ask me questions here I will answer them if I can but I just have limited access to the Internet at the moment.

Hi can anyone tell me ho much per tooth did it cost for the amalgam removal and replacement with a white porcelin fillings. i could manage around €1,500 but 2 grand or over i couldnt afford it, i have approx 10 silver fillings.
I want to get it removed by a proper dentist rather than a holistic, but i know a dentist will **** his/her eyes up to heaven if i mention removing them.
Then im thinking a regular dentist mighnt be aware of the dangers of mercury and if he removes it he mightnt do it properly compared to a holistic dentist.
I mean paul was your holistic dentist a certified dentist with a bachelor's degree in dentistry and how did it cost per tooth if u dont mind me askin?
Pete

I dont know what degree my dentist has but I know he is well established and has been operating his practice for many years. He would not be able to practice if he didn't have a dentistry degree. I was very happy with the standard of care I received. Mine cost between €90 and €220 per filling. I had 7 amalgams removed and 2 small new composite fillings inserted and the total bill including x rays etc was around €1,450. You will obviously need to budget for your supplements also. Chlorella is ridiculously expensive. At the dosage you need to take around removal time it must have cost me €100 per month.

If you can afford it and you feel you are ready I would recommend highly having it done. I felt hugely better within a couple of weeks. Haven't had brain fog in 6 months. I am now tackling my residual candida which I believe are the cause of my ongoing sinusitis, my only remaining symptom.

Best of luck with whatever you choose to do.

Hi Paul i appreciate the reply, my main problem is anxiety and irritability.
It is a big step getting them removed and from looking at blogs on the internet it’s a 50/50 shot weather it will help me or not!
When you say you had 'brain fog' did it have a profound effect on your life and getting them replaced obviously helped you.
I mean when you say brain fog do you mean lack of clarity, poor concentration, etc?
My kidneys are failing, and I am facing dialyzes. I have 3 or 4 teeth with root canals. recently another tooth start having trouble. I went to a dentist and he advised root canal.I read somewhere in don't remember where for using colloidal silver to heal it. And I did. Three time a day I was washing my teeth after meal and after taking a small sip of colloidal silver and for minute or two rinse it around this tooth and spit it out. Next put 8 drops of CELL FOOD in a glass of purified, filtered water. Selling it in health food stores, and drink it. after two three days this tooth will be healed and infection disappeared. When you feel comfortable with the tooth then go to your dentist and ask him to fix the cavity. This time the ex ray if you do will not show it need root canal. This helped me to save my next tooth. Already 3 years I have no problem with this tooth.
Pete

Anxiety and irritability were 2 of my main symptoms for a long time, I would say primarily due to my candida and the havoc that played with my blood sugar with sugar cravings etc.

By brain fog yes I mean poor concentration, not beig able to think clearly, kind of like being hungover every day. A big cause of this must have been mercury poisoning because within days of having them removed this symptom dissapeared. I will say though that I had killed off a lot of candida by that stage though, you might not get the same relief without threading the candida also.

Let me know if I can help you with anything else

Paul

I forgot to point out and perhaps you already know but the most profound effect mercury has on the body is on the nervous system which manifests itself in problems with mood, depression, anxiety, irritability etc.

For this reason it is definitely worth looking at along with your anti candida treatment programme

Hi Paul.

Just a question about the detox, when i scour the internet there so many supplement to take, i just want to get your opinion.
Im gonna take garlic, vit c, selenium and alpa lytic acid.
But it seems that is it DMSA or is it DSMA or chlorella appear to be the major supplements for detox.
There are so many opinions about DMSA can u get it in Ireland, is it dangerous and do u need a prescription for it, same quest for chlorella do u need a prescription?
About the Candida i tried the diet and took probiotics with garlic and others like oil of oregano but it didn't relieve my symptoms, is there anything in particular you took.
I also heard that mercury goes hand in hand with Candida and once you take out the mercury it goes.
The most important chelator for mercury is ALA. You can successful detox mercury using ALA alone. You can not do it with DMSA or EDTA. If you remove your silver fillings, you must way at least 3 months before to start chelation. Chelation is a must after removing the fillings. Remember, for mercury, there is nothing more important than ALA.
